Hana Bank Launches Export Support Fund.

Hana Bank has established a fund to support small and medium-sized exporters facing US tariff challenges. The bank will review relaxed credit assessment standards, provide liquidity support, interest rate relief, and expanded access to global financing. Hana Bank CEO Lee Ho-sung pledged to deploy specialists from its headquarters to conduct on-site consultations with affected companies. The bank will also establish "tariff response and financial support consultation desks" at branches nationwide, offering advisory services across export financing, corporate loans, foreign exchange fees, and management consulting.

Israel's Gaza Plan Accused of Genocide

Israel's military offensive aims to make Gaza City unliveable, according to UN expert Francesca Albanese. The plan is part of a strategy to defeat Hamas militant group, with Israel warning civilians to evacuate to a designated humanitarian zone. However, the UN and numerous countries argue that Israel's tactics amount to forced mass displacement, with dire conditions in the zone. Albanese accused Israel of genocide and said the international community is complicit, citing the nearly two-year campaign that has killed over 64,000 people.

Asean must adopt Japan's approach to treating digital lifelines as a national security concern, rather than a technical afterthought. Japan's investigation is driven by three imperatives: building resilience and diversification, confronting geographic vulnerabilities, and scrutinising supplier concentration. Japan's approach involves auditing supply chains to map dependencies, identify vulnerabilities, and plan for redundancies, prioritizing alternative routes and backup systems due to its reliance on limited cable routes. This approach offers a blueprint for Asean's policy response, which is compounded by its geography, with congested sea lanes, territorial disputes, and overlapping exclusive economic zones.

Malaysia Celebrates 68th Independence Day in Karachi.

Malaysia celebrated its 68th Independence Day and 62nd Malaysia Day with a reception in Karachi, hosted by the Consulate General of Malaysia. The event was attended by Syed Awais Qadir Shah, Speaker Sindh Assembly and Acting Governor Sindh, as the Chief Guest. The Consul General of Malaysia in Karachi, Herman Hardynata Ahmad, highlighted the deep-rooted friendship between Malaysia and Pakistan. The bilateral trade has shown resilience, reaching USD 898 million in the first seven months of 2025. Tourism and education are also underlined as vibrant areas of cooperation, with over 61,000 Pakistani tourists visiting Malaysia in the first six months of 2025. The Consul General also referenced the successful "Jom!. Malaysia Chalo!" exhibition held earlier, showcasing Malaysia's strengths in education, trade, culture, and tourism.

Netanyahu Urges Israel to Invest in Influence Ops.

Israel should invest heavily in "influence operations" to counteract economic isolation, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said. This comes after a 12-day war against Iran in June, which removed an immediate threat of a nuclear-armed foe. Netanyahu blamed international criticism of Israel's war in Gaza, as well as minorities in Europe pushing "anti-Zionist and extreme Islamist ideology", for the economic threat of sanctions. He also cited Qatar, a backer of Arabic broadcaster Al Jazeera, for investing in shaping global discourse through social media.

Poland Destroys Russian UAVs Over Ukraine.

NATO's Operation Eastern Guard to expand with Spain, Britain, Italy, and Sweden joining. On September 10, Poland's operational command reported destroying several unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) that entered the country's airspace, with 19 violations recorded on the same night. Russia claimed to have carried out strikes on Ukrainian military-industrial complexes in Ivano-Frankivsk, Khmelnytskyi, Zhytomyr, Vinnytsia, and Lviv regions. The range of the UAVs was approximately 700 km. Russia offered to consult with Poland on this matter, indicating a potential diplomatic response to the incident.

Russian President Vladimir Putin allegedly used force against Russia, according to a statement by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. This targeted attack on civilians comes as tensions rise following high-profile talks between Trump, Putin, and Zelensky last month. The situation worsened after Poland and Romania accused Russia of sending drones into their airspace, prompting both countries to scramble fighter jets. Moscow has denied the allegations, calling them a 'provocation' by Ukraine and claiming Poland and Romania have not presented convincing evidence.

RAF Typhoons Deploy to Poland Defensively

The UK has deployed RAF fighter jets to Poland as part of the Eastern Sentry mission to bolster Europe's defenses. This move comes after a Russian drone raid into Polish airspace, which has been described as "significant and unprecedented" by the UK Foreign Ministry. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has warned that Russia is deliberately expanding its drone operations. The Typhoons will fly alongside Danish, French and German aircraft in the coming days as part of the Eastern Sentry mission.
