Excire Search 2026 aims to redefine Lightroom workflows with its AI-powered culling tools, integrated search panel, intelligent focus detection, and video organization features. The plugin's configurable AI-powered culling system allows photographers to group images by scene, content, or subject and sort photos based on eye sharpness, face sharpness, overall image clarity, or aesthetic ratings. This feature reduces manual sorting time, enabling photographers to focus on creative decisions and less on file management. The plugin also introduces a redesigned Excire Search panel that integrates directly into Lightroom Classic, offering compact toolbar access or expanded image preview capabilities.

Scientists have identified a rare blue pigment in Jackson Pollock's iconic painting "Number 1A, 1948". The researchers found that the vibrant blue pigment was a key component of Pollock's action painting technique, which involved dripping and pooling colors to create layered dynamism. The discovery was made after past work identified the red and yellow pigments that formed part of Pollock's core palette, leaving the blue pigment unassigned until now.
The Relentless Award, established by American Playwriting Foundation's Katz, aims to provide financial support and exposure for emerging artists. This year's selection committee included Rachel Bloom, Jason Robert Brown, David Javerbaum, Sam Hollander, Laura Grill Jaye, Lynn Nottage, Brontez Purnell, and Lucy Thurber. The award's winners will have their work showcased at Theatre Row, a crucial step for budding artists. Katz believes the award's goal is to provide a launching place and notoriety, while also supporting productions. The first winner, "Jo Jenkins Before the Galactic Court of Consciousness," is an inventive sci-fi comedy that tackles environmental issues in a unique way, appealing to the heart and soul rather than just intellect.

A Sydney couple, James Brownlow and Doug Small, gifted the city a rock and polished metal sculpture to the Art Gallery of NSW. The gift was made on the condition that their intentions would not be publicised until after their deaths. Brownlow, an architect, and Small passed away in 2021 and 2012 respectively. Their friend Joy Wennerbom worked with the gallery to find a sculpture that reflected their love of architecture, landscape design and minimalist Asian art. The sculpture, commissioned from Korean artist Lee Ufan, was installed last week in the garden between the sandstone Walter Liberty Vernon building and the new contemporary art campus.
