DeJardin's Geometric Guardians Confront the Viewer

The exhibition features abstract, anthropomorphic "Guardians" created by artist DeJardin, which are composed of solid geometric shapes reminiscent of early Analytical Cubism. These figures, standing as non-theological symbols of protection, gaze directly at the viewer, encouraging deep introspection and communication between themselves and the viewer. Embedded within sprawling landscapes that evoke 17th century Dutch Golden Age painters like Aelbert Cuyp and Jan Both, DeJardin's Guardians convey a sense of duality in human existence, blending earthly and divine qualities.

Wesley Snipes on Film-to-Stage Adaptations and Fandom

Wesley Snipes recently discussed how films that resonate with the traditional Black experience can attract a broad audience for stage plays. He noted that if a film speaks to a wide audience, its stage adaptation will likely draw in fans who already appreciate the story. This phenomenon is similar to the success of "The Rocky Horror Picture Show," where fans of the original film attend the stage productions, creating a dedicated fanbase.
