AI Disrupts Government Job Market in Dubai

  The increasing presence of generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) in various sectors is transforming the job market, with significant implications for governments and workers alike. A recent study by the Mohammed bin Rashid School of Government found that approximately 33% of Dubai government jobs are at risk due to AI, with clerical support workers being the most exposed group, as 24% of their tasks may be taken over by machines. Sheikh Hamdan emphasized the need for a proactive approach by the government sector to keep pace with the AI revolution during an AI Retreat in Dubai. He highlighted the importance of data governance and talent development in ensuring readiness for future transformations. A report by the Boston Consulting Group and the Aspen Institute Central Europe forecasts that more than 40% of jobs will be affected by Gen AI by 2035, impacting around 2.3 million workers in various sectors, including Dubai's government job market.
