Asia-Pacific Region Sees Rapid Adoption of Agentic AI with Accenture Predicting 90% Business Investment

Published on 4.14.25

The rapid adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) is transforming the Asia-Pacific region, with companies in the area planning to heavily invest in AI technologies. According to Accenture, a staggering 90% of businesses in the region aim to utilize agentic AI models within three years, driven by the potential for increased productivity and revenue. However, this growth raises concerns about the misuse of AI, as Indonesia's Deputy Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs, Nezar Patria, warns citizens about the increasing prevalence of deepfakes and AI-related scams in the country. The United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) emphasizes that investing in reskilling and upskilling is crucial to ensure that AI enhances job prospects rather than eliminating them. To harness AI's potential for sustainable development in the Asia-Pacific region, countries must invest in digital infrastructure, build AI capabilities, and strengthen governance.
