Indonesia's AI-Driven Educational Expansion

  The role of artificial intelligence (AI) is becoming increasingly prominent in Indonesia's education sector, with the country aiming to leverage its large population and digital presence to create an inclusive AI ecosystem. At the Machines Can See (MCS) 2025 forum in Dubai, Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs Meutya Hafid emphasized the importance of AI for all nations, highlighting Indonesia's strategic position to develop it as a future and heritage of the world. Indonesia plans to utilize AI to improve education by enhancing digital infrastructure, such as connectivity across its 17 thousand islands. This will enable better access to educational resources and opportunities for students in remote areas. The country also aims to use AI-based tools to monitor student performance and provide personalized learning experiences. The government is also working on implementing AI-based systems to enhance the quality of education, including the Quality Recognition System (QRIS), which sets standards for quality in higher education, ensuring that international students meet Indonesia's academic standards and promoting equal opportunities for all students.
