Israel's Blockade Sparks Global Outrage Amid Gaza Humanitarian Crisis

The humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip has reached a critical point, with international pressure mounting on Israel to allow more aid into the territory. The ongoing blockade of Gaza, imposed by Israel and Egypt since 2007, has pushed the territory towards famine.
Brazil is considering cutting military ties with Israel due to its actions in the Gaza Strip, which President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva described as genocide. The Brazilian government had previously canceled a purchase of Israeli armored vehicles and sees suspending military contracts and cooperation as an appropriate response to the escalation of violence in Gaza.
The UN General Assembly has adopted a resolution demanding an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and urging nations to pressure Israel. The resolution, which passed with 149 votes, calls for Israel to end its blockade on Gaza and ensure aid reaches the civilian population. Israeli forces seized a Gaza aid boat carrying climate activist Greta Thunberg, sparking international condemnation.
The situation has been further exacerbated by recent incidents, including the killing of dozens of people near distribution points since May, including at least 10 civilians hit by gunfire near an aid centre on Sunday. An eight-year-old boy was also injured while playing in a park, and an 11-month-old baby, Zakariya al-Majdoub, is facing life-threatening malnutrition due to severe weight loss.
The international community has condemned Israel's actions as a serious breach of international law, with human rights groups such as Adalah and Amnesty International calling for accountability.
