Pakistan Increases Education Sector Allocations

The Pakistani government has significantly increased funding for education infrastructure in its latest budget. In addition to the establishment of two new colleges with initial allocations of Rs.100 million each, the government has prioritized education by allocating over Rs.900 million for basic education facilities under the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) project. This includes funding for scholarship programs, school infrastructure, teacher training, and skill development as part of the larger Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP), which has allocated a total of Rs.19 billion for education and professional training projects in 2025-26. A significant portion of this allocation will be used to award 1600 scholarships to students from disadvantaged groups. The finance minister has announced a budget of Rs.9.8 billion for education projects, including schools and Early Childhood Education centers, as part of the PSDP. This increased funding is likely to have a positive impact on Pakistan's education sector, particularly in terms of infrastructure development and access to quality education for disadvantaged groups.
