The company is partnering with Warby Parker and Gentle Monster to create stylish and comfortable XR-equipped glasses that integrate Google's Android XR operating system and AI model Gemini as a constant AI assistant. Meta's Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses have gained popularity as an early example of an AI device, putting pressure on Apple and Google to innovate. To compete with these devices, Apple plans to launch its smart glasses by the end of 2026. The development of smart glasses is also being pursued by other companies like Snap, which are working on similar products with features such as augmented reality, AI assistants, and video calling capabilities.
