UAE Facilitates Israel-Gaza Humanitarian Accord

Published on 6.2.25

The situation in Gaza has prompted Pope Leo XIV to call for sufficient humanitarian aid to address the "worrying and painful" situation. In response, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Affairs Minister, agreed with Israel's Gideon Sa'ar to deliver urgent humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip, benefiting approximately 15,000 civilians. The UAE has facilitated an agreement between Israel and itself to permit the delivery of emergency humanitarian aid to Gaza. This comes after a meeting between Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar in Abu Dhabi. The aid package includes food supplies, bakery equipment, infant care essentials, and medical items. This shift in relations is significant, as it marks one of the first instances of humanitarian cooperation between Israel and the UAE since their normalization agreement last year.
