Ukraine-Russia Conflict Escalates Again with Hundreds of Raids and Drone Attacks

Published on 4.25.25

The fragile truce between Ukraine and Russia has been shattered, casting doubt on diplomatic efforts to end the conflict. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy accused Russia of carrying out hundreds of front-line raids, while Russia's defence ministry claimed it had repelled Ukrainian assaults and launched hundreds of drones and shells. This escalation comes just hours after US President Donald Trump expressed hope for a ceasefire, which was met with skepticism by Ukraine's allies. Russian President Vladimir Putin had declared the surprise Easter truce motivated by "humanitarian reasons", but it was marked by numerous violations from both sides. The attack on a bus in southern Ukraine that killed nine people has been described as "egregiously brutal" by Zelenskyy, who urged an immediate halt to missile and drone attacks on civilian targets.
