14 Ancient Buddha Statues Found in Khammouane Province

  In March, locals discovered 14 ancient Buddha statues along the Mekong River, north of the Sikhottabong Temple in Thakhek district, Khammouane Province. The collection includes six complete silver images, one bronze image, and seven damaged silver ones. One statue features intricate silver and gold detailing in the Lane Xang style, suggesting a possible temple dating back to the 6th century Sikhottabong Kingdom period.
