Amsterdam's Holocaust Route Unveiled with AI Animations

Published on 7.12.25

A unique code grants access to a seven-kilometre route in Amsterdam that guides visitors through stops related to the Holocaust, including the former home of Miep Gies, who helped hide the Frank family. The tour features lifelike animations generated by AI using data from the Anne Frank Institute and other sources. Erdeapel, a 45-year-old Amsterdam resident of Polish and Hungarian Jewish descent, is behind the project, which aims to tell Anne Frank's story to a new generation. The route includes the site where a coffeeshop sparked one of the few protests in Amsterdam against Nazi persecution of Jews, and features archive photographs and digital animation.
