The Crime Investigation Department (CID) in Hyderabad searched Bharathi Cements, owned by former Andhra Pradesh chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy's company, as part of an investigation into the Andhra liquor scam. The CID alleges that funds from the scam were channeled into Bharathi Cements' accounts. In May, Govindappa Balaji, full-time director of Bharathi Cements, was arrested in connection with the scam. An investigation by the special investigation team (SIT) uncovered a kickback network involving a significant sum, and the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has filed a money laundering case linked to the scam.
