The Getty Center in Los Angeles is hosting a major exhibition on the life and work of Italian Baroque painter Artemisia Gentileschi. In an interview with the Los Angeles Times, Moïse Sursock, curator of the exhibition, discussed Gentileschi's innovative use of chiaroscuro in her paintings. Sursock highlighted Gentileschi's influence on artists such as Orazio Gentileschi and Federico Castelluccio. The exhibition features 15 paintings by Gentileschi, including "Judith Beheading Holofernes," which is considered one of the greatest works of the Baroque period. Conservation expert Davide Gasparotto worked closely with the Getty Center to ensure the fragile condition of the artworks was preserved for the exhibition.
