Gisele Pelicot Honored for Rape Testimony Courage

  Gisele Pelicot, 72, and rapper Pharrell Williams, 52, were among 589 people awarded France's top civic honour, the Legion of Honour, ahead of July 14 national day. Pelicot, a feminist icon, was named for her courage in testifying against her former husband, who drugged and raped her by dozens of men over a decade. Pharrell Williams, Louis Vuitton's men's creative director since 2023, received the honour for his contributions to fashion. Other recipients include Jay Z, Beyonce, Steve McQueen, Spike Lee, Lea Drucker, Sylvie Vartan, Marc Levy, and Yvette Levy, a 99-year-old Auschwitz deportee.
