Published on 8.7.25

Google has officially launched its AI coding agent, Jules, which is an asynchronous, agentic assistant powered by Gemini 2.5 Pro and integrates directly with GitHub. Jules clones codebases into Google Cloud virtual machines, understands full project context, and performs coding tasks. The tool was first introduced in December via Google Labs and became available to beta testers through public preview at the Google I/O developer conference, where thousands of developers shared over 140,000 code improvements publicly.
