Jakarta Partners with Shanghai on Admiral Cheng Ho Exhibit

The Jakarta provincial government is partnering with the Shanghai Art Collection Museum to host an exhibition titled "Miles Apart, Close at Heart" showcasing the journeys of Admiral Cheng Ho from China's Ming dynasty. The exhibition, set to run from July 11 to August 11, features 50 items including treasure charts, celestial navigation charts, and porcelain, highlighting the spirit of collaboration and historical heritage shared by Indonesia and China. Jakarta Deputy Governor Rano Karno hopes the event will strengthen ties between the two countries through cultural knowledge promotion, with plans to reciprocate in Shanghai in 2027 coinciding with the 500th anniversary of Jakarta.
