London's Tourist Attractions Plagued by Crime Wave

Published on 7.10.25

London's tourist attractions are plagued by crime, with over 250 million recorded crimes within a 800ft radius of each venue in the past year. The Royal Academy of Arts tops the list with 1,652 crimes, followed closely by the National Portrait Gallery with 3,060. The area around these two attractions is particularly notorious for anti-social behaviour and theft. A recent incident involving veteran broadcaster Selina Scott was attacked and robbed near the Royal Academy, while a gang targeted her backpack and stole her purse. In response to the growing crime epidemic, London Mayor Sadiq Khan's office has announced increased police patrols and intelligence-led operations in high-crime areas, including those around the National Portrait Gallery and the Royal Academy of Arts.
