Moulin Rouge Blades Revive in Paris Celebration

  Hundreds gathered outside the Moulin Rouge in Paris to see its blades turn again after 14 months, following a central axis failure that brought the venue to a standstill. The cabaret, immortalized by Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec and featured in Baz Luhrmann's 2001 film, has been restored with new aluminium blades ready for the Paris Olympics last July. A street celebration marked the occasion, with dancers performing the cancan and fireworks from the club's roof, as managing director Jean-Victor Clerico stated that restoring the sails was crucial to reviving a "Parisian symbol".
