The UNESCO study found that cultural sites are most vulnerable to water scarcity, while over half of natural sites face flooding risks from nearby rivers. In India, the Taj Mahal in Agra is facing increasing water scarcity, which is exacerbating pollution and depleting groundwater, damaging the monument. Similarly, a massive flood in Yellowstone National Park in 2022 caused $20 million in infrastructure repairs to reopen the park.
